SAFEWAY TO KEEP COOL WITH DOWDING & MILLS FRIDGEMOTORS

Dowding & Mills Fridgemotors has had its contract to supply Safeway with remanufactured compressors for use in in-store refrigeration and cold rooms renewed for a further three years, helping to minimise downtime and costs incurred by compressor failures.

The new contract gives Dowding & Mills sole supplier status for refurbished compressors for the first time, and has also been extended to cover fully hermetic and scroll-type compressors in addition to semi-hermetic compressors.

Dowding & Mills Fridgemotors is also providing a ‘shift and lift’ service to Safeway, which involves delivering the replacement compressor direct to the bed plate in the store and taking away the damaged compressor for remanufacture. This service covers all Safeway branches in the UK and includes a guarantee that a replacement compressor will be delivered within 24 hours helping to further reduce downtime in stores.

Alf Testa, general manager at Dowding & Mills Fridgemotors, commented: “An additional new service that we are offering Safeway is part of our Asset Management programme. It involves the trending of failures across all compressor types and producing monthly reports to enable us to carry out analysis of the faults and look for any recurring problems.”
