DOWDING & MILLS LAUNCHES NATIONAL ONSITE CALIBRATION SERVICE Dowding & Mills has launched a national onsite calibration service, which will greatly reduce downtime and increase efficiency for businesses across the UK. Combined with a massive investment in state-of-the-art asset management technology announced last month, Dowding & Mills can now manage the complete range of calibration and asset management requirements. It has comprehensive UKAS accreditation, which is critical for industries, such as automotive, which are affected by QS 9000. Onsite calibration is essential for companies that are unable to move equipment such as ovens, environmental chambers, panels and gauges, from the factory site. Dowding & Mills has already successfully provided an onsite calibration service for many customers, including Jaguar Cars and also CarnaudMetalbox, the leading supplier of packaging products to consumer markets. It carried out a complete overhaul of CanaudMetalbox’ calibration procedures, implemented new work instructions and set-up an innovative, end-to-end inventory management system. Information Technology is an important part of Dowding & Mills’ onsite calibration service strategy. Its planned new asset management system will give customers immediate access to their calibration, asset and maintenance management records when they outsource the management of their assets to Dowding & Mills. The technology will provide customers with a range of value added services and will facilitate a secure, paperless office. Users will benefit from web-driven access to online engineers’ reports, access to calibration certificates and full service histories. Customers will also be able to view reports on wear & tear trends,
which will assist preventative maintenance and help to maximise resources
and minimise downtime. The system will provide a job control system
through a standard, web interface, which will provide users with full
traceability at all steps of servicing. Customers can also receive regular
servicing updates via email. Mike Moore, sales director, Dowding & Mills, said: “Calibration is an ‘admin-intensive’ activity, which absorbs a lot of resource and management time. Our onsite calibration service aims to reduce these headaches, by managing customers assets and giving them full online access to information, which was previously hidden in a mountain of filing cabinets. “We have taken our unrivalled industry knowledge and combined it with state-of-the-art technology, which will boost efficiency and reduce management downtime for our customers across the UK,” concluded Moore. Dowding & Mills has environmentally controlled laboratories strategically located throughout the UK. Onsite engineers offer the widest range of calibration fields of any UK company and provide a full array of calibration, repair and refurbishment services. Accuracy and traceability to national standards is guaranteed with BSI registration to BS EN ISO 9002:1994 and UKAS accreditation to BS EN ISO/IEC 17025. -Ends- Note to editor: For further information please contact: David Gower
