DOWDING & MILLS SETS UP SPECIALIST CALIBRATION AND ELECTRONICS DIVISION

Dowding & Mills Engineering Services has expanded its restructuring programme to include its electronics, calibration and instrument services. This latest move, which will see the creation of a new division, Dowding & Mills - Calibration & Electronics, follows the formation of its Engineering Services division at the end of last year.

Dowding & Mills' electronics' offering has grown in recent years through acquisitions, with many of the branches continuing to trade under their original names, for example Advanced Technical Services (ATS), Calibration Systems Limited (CSL) and Instrument Services Limited (ISL). As part of the restructuring, all the branch names will change to Dowding & Mills, clearing up any confusion in the market place.

Martyn Habgood, chief executive, explained the reasons for the change: "There are many synergies across the businesses already. A growing number of customers use Dowding & Mills for more than one service, and we are keen to do all we can to make it as easy as possible for them to do business with us. This includes everything from streamlining and simplifying our administration and accounts across the group, to bringing our diverse branches together under the Dowding & Mills name."

The move means that the complete Calibration & Electronics service, which includes instrument repair, electronic repair and support services, and calibration and testing, will be available to customers nationwide. In addition to local points of contact, the company will also operate a nationwide collection and delivery service - all of which should make it easier and quicker for customers to work with Dowding & Mills.

Dowding & Mills' Calibration & Electronics' customers include the MoD, Siemens, the Nuclear and Electricity Agencies and UK Atomic Energy Authority.
