Dowding & Mills' Commutator manufacturing and refurbishment facilities provide support to the repair industry including Original Equipment Manufacturers. Bespoke CAD software calculates and displays dynamic stress and is able to determine theoretical overspeed characteristics and create production drawings.

The ability to produce all of the components for commutators and sliprings ensures total control throughout the manufacturing process. Any size of commutator, with fixed or solid risers, of moulded or built-up construction and sliprings in phosphor bronze, brass, copper and steel can be produced to meet the exact requirements of the customer. In addition to the simulated testing through the CAD system, all commutators and sliprings undergo thorough mechanical and electrical testing at all stages of manufacture. Every commutator undergoes static seasoning and full rotary seasoning if requested by the customer. Full hard copies of the profile readings are supplied as appropriate.
